Topic: Walk In The Light

Matthew 26:41 “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

How do you walk in the Spirit? The way you do this is through living by, conducting your actions according to, and following the leading of the Word of God as quickened to you by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit and the Word of God agree perfectly because the Holy Spirit is the one who inspired the written Word of God.

Denying the flesh will not result in walking in the Spirit. Walking in the Spirit will result in denying the flesh. This may seem like a subtle difference to some, but the difference is truly profound. As a whole, false religions teach that as we overcome our flesh, there is a noticeable increase in the presence and power of God in our lives. That was what the Pharisees of Jesus’ day and the legalistic Jews of Paul’s day taught. Just the opposite is true. As we experience more of the presence and power of the Spirit of God, then the influence of the flesh is diminished. Victory must come in this order. We don’t walk in the Spirit as a result of overcoming the flesh, rather overcoming the flesh is the result of walking in the Spirit.

It’s similar to how you fill a dark room with light. You don’t shovel out the darkness and then light appears. No! You simply turn on the light and the darkness flees. Much of religion preaches to stop sinning (get rid of the darkness) and then the Holy Spirit will come and empower you (the light will come). That’s not the way it works. Man can no more get rid of the power of the flesh on his own than he can get rid of the power of darkness without light. We have to receive the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives by grace and then the union with the Holy Spirit breaks the power of the flesh. The key to breaking the dominion of the flesh is to appropriate the power of the Spirit through faith, while the flesh is still causing us problems. Those who are waiting for the Spirit to manifest after they have subdued the flesh, will wait as long as the man who is trying to get rid of the darkness so the light will appear.

Topic: Open the Flow

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. – Hebrews 12:1-2

Disciplining the flesh. For many believers that phrase stirs memories of frustration and failure. They know it’s important—the Word of God clearly teaches that. But they’re not sure exactly how to go about it.

Some have given up, shrugging off such discipline as impossible. Others are still fighting stubbornly to get their flesh under control—and losing one battle after another.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. In fact, we can’t afford to let it be that way. It will cost us too much.

You and I are blessed to be part of the generation that will see the signs and wonders which the prophets of old wished they could have lived long enough to see. We will witness the Spirit of God poured out upon all flesh. But sin hinders the Spirit’s flow. And only as we rid ourselves of it will the power and glory of God be manifest through us. Only then will we experience the glorious things that are prophesied to take place in our generation.

So put your past failure behind you. Make up your mind that you’re not going to let the sins of the flesh rob you of the glory of God. It is possible to step out of the sin you’ve struggled with so long and live under the Spirit’s control. Look to Jesus…He will show you how.

Topic: Good Things Are Costly

In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. — John 16:33

You should not expect the easy way, for if you do you are certainly destined for disappointment. Any person who knows the Bible knows that the Christian life is likened to an athletic contest or to warfare, and neither one is easy. Jesus warned His followers to count carefully the cost, and that certainly does not speak of an easy way. But there is no good thing that comes without cost.

The Christian life is the most satisfying, but only when we actually go all out and all the way. It is the Christian who tries to compromise who finds life miserable, for he has all the problems, without the fellowship that comes through surrender. For every trial and test, Christ supplies an abundance of grace with which to bear it, and in our weakness we are made strong.

Prayer for the day: Let me never look for the easy way when You, Lord Jesus, gave everything for me.

Open Heaven 11 November 2018 – What A Great Father He is!

Topic: What A Great Father He is!

Memorise: “The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.”– Psalm 146:9

Read: Psalm 68:4-10 (KJV)

4 Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.

5 A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.

6 God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

7 O God, when thou wentest forth before thy people, when thou didst march through the wilderness; Selah:

8 The earth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.

9 Thou, O God, didst send a plentiful rain, whereby thou didst confirm thine inheritance, when it was weary.

10 Thy congregation hath dwelt therein: thou, O God, hast prepared of thy goodness for the poor.

Bible in One Year: Lamentations 1-2, Luke 20:1-26

 MESSAGE:
The God that we serve is a Father who is always present and is ever ready to help. He is full of love, compassion and mercy for all of His children, and He gives each one of them uninterrupted attention. As the Almighty Father, He is capable of giving us everything that we can ever need. He knows His children even more than they even know themselves – He knows their tomorrow and every single detail about them even before they were born.

No matter how great and good an earthly father is, he will still fall short and fail in some aspects of his children’s wellbeing. An earthly father cannot boast of being with his children always. An earthly father cannot boast of knowing his children so well that he knows how to comfort them at all times. Even when he says he is capable of giving his children everything they ask for, he cannot give them good health, retentive memory, safe journey, and other things that money can’t buy. Our heavenly Father is the perfect Father to the fatherless, and He is a Father that other fathers run to in times of trouble. His love for His children immeasurably surpasses the love that an earthly father has for his children. Some people frown when they hear me call God my Daddy. Well, I don’t know about you, but this God is my Daddy. He has shown so much care to me ever since I met Him that I cannot but see Him as my Daddy. He understands me, comforts me, protects me, heals me, corrects me, helps me and carries me. If God has been all these to you, I want you to take a moment, look up to heaven and just say, “Daddy I love You.”

Have you been fatherless? Have you been lonely? Has your earthly father been distant and cold? Then you need to experience the loving kindness of Abba Father. To belong to Him, you need to be reborn by Him. His love is enough to wrap you in warmth for evermore. To enter into this special relationship with Him, confess these words:

Dear God, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I am sorry for my sins and the life that I have lived. Lord, I want to start afresh; come into my heart and be the Lord of my life. Make me a new creature in You. Thank You Abba Father for saving me.

After making these confessions in faith, you now need to find a Bible-believing church to attend so that you can build the relationship that has just begun between you and this Great Father.

 Key Point:
God says to you today, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness” (Jeremiah 31:3).

Sunday Hymn 8: The Great Physician
1. The Great Physician now is near,
The sympathizing Jesus;
He speaks the drooping heart to cheer,
Oh, hear the voice of Jesus!

Chorus:
Sweetest note in seraph song,
Sweetest Name on mortal tongue;
Sweetest carol ever sung,
Jesus, blessed Jesus.

2. Your many sins are all forgiv’n,
Oh, hear the voice of Jesus;
Go on your way in peace to heav’n,
And wear a crown with Jesus.

3. All glory to the dying Lamb!
I now believe in Jesus;
I love the blessed Saviour’s Name,
I love the Name of Jesus.

4. His Name dispels my guilt and fear,
No other name but Jesus;
Oh, how my soul delights to hear
The precious Name of Jesus!

Topic: The Blessing – A Difference Maker

Scripture: And Laban said unto him, I pray thee, if I have found favour in thine eyes, tarry: for I have learned by experience that the Lord hath blessed me for thy sake. Genesis 30:27

Thought For The Day: It is the Blessing that imparts resourcefulness, resultfulness and productivity in life.

The Blessing of God is a non-negotiable ingredient of destiny. The Blessing produces both the irrigation and fertilization of systems or organizations unto productivity. The truth is, when a blessed person enters a dry place, he would wet the place, but when a cursed person enters a wet place, he will dry up the place.

Jacob irrigated Laban’s house and Laban became prosperous overnight (Genesis 30:27, 30) by the power of the Blessing. Also, Joseph arrived Potiphar’s house and everything changed for good (Genesis 39:5) by the power of the Blessing.

By Divine privilege, I have stepped into the lives of individuals, families, and churches that were struggling and they blossomed and experienced drastic turnaround by the power of the Blessing.

So, the Blessing is very powerful; the Blessing is an irrigator of life and destiny.

It has been proven that everyone in this world carries a mantle: spiritual mantle, physical mantle, generational mantle. When you bring a person with a mantle of success over an establishment, the place succeeds but when you bring a person with a mantle of poverty, scarcity, or failure to head an organization, a local government, state or even a nation, the person dries up the place by the negative mantle he carries.

So, it is the Blessing that imparts resourcefulness, resultfulness and productivity in life.

I see a change of story in your family, business, resources, and destiny by the power of the Blessing, in Jesus’ Name. You are blessed!

Remember this: It is the Blessing that imparts resourcefulness, resultfulness and productivity in life.

Assignments:
1. Make demands on the Blessing of God for your life.
2. Determine to make a difference anywhere you find yourself by releasing your mentality, physical strength and resources for productivity.

Prayer: Father, I connect with the mantle of power, wealth, and prosperity. Help me, Lord to make undeniable impact in my generation, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

Topic: The New Jerusalem

Text: Isaiah 27:1-13 (KJV)

Key Verse: “And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem” (Isaiah 27:13).

MESSAGE:

The age in which we live is referred to in the Scriptures as the “last days”. This age is very significant in the plan of God as it will usher us into another important series of events called “eschatology”.

A day has been appointed when Christ will destroy the power of death and the devil. This event will take place at the battle of Armageddon where armies of the Antichrist will be slaughtered. This last attempt by Satan to wrongfully take the kingdom from Christ will fail. The vineyard, the Church (Christians) will be preserved from the night of affliction and persecution.

The present dispensation is called the Church age which is characterised by evil, the dominion of Satan, darkness, ungodliness and all manner of sins. Plus, there is and will be a denial of God, Christ, faith and Christian living. This is because, the devil and all his fallen angels, walk to and fro the whole earth. With the final judgment of sinners and the defeat of the old serpent, God will replace this polluted earth with a new earth and a new heaven that will match His glory, holiness and righteousness (Revelation 21:1-4).

The great, holy and eternal heaven will have New Jerusalem as its capital. Here, Christ and all the saints from all ages will reside forever. The New Jerusalem is a material city, not a mythical one. Its beauty is beyond comprehension. Will you be there? No sin can enter there. Every believer must remain faithful and steadfast in the Lord while the sinner must repent and be saved. The backslider must return to the Lord immediately. We must not miss the glories of the New Jerusalem. If you are truly born again, then hold fast to your faith in Christ until the end.

Thought For The Day: To miss heaven is to weep inconsolably for ever.
