Topic: The Will of God
Memorise: “He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.”- Matthew 26:42
Read: Matthew 6:9-10, James 4:13-15(KJV)
Matthew 6:9-10:
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
James 4:13-15:
13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
Bible in One Year: Isaiah 48-50, Luke 4:14-37
MESSAGE:
Because God is the creator of all things in heaven and on earth, He holds supreme authority over everything, and He does whatever pleases Him (Psalm 135:6). His desire is that every creature in heaven and on earth should do His will. The will of God is God’s plan and purpose for each entity in His creation at any given time. Only those who have submitted themselves to the Lordship of Jesus Christ can readily do God’s will from their heart (Psalm 40:8). There is only one person on earth who knows the will of God at any particular time and 1 Corinthians 2:11 reveals that person:
“For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.”
Therefore, anyone who does not have the Holy spirit dwelling in him or her can neither know nor be submissive to the will God (1 Corinthians 2:14, Romans 8:7). Even if such people attend church meetings and worship service, they will still find the word of God and the lifestyle of His kingdom questionable, burdensome and even offensive.
Whenever an unconverted person is confronted with the will of God as revealed through His words, an antagonistic tension develops in their heart, which the conviction of the Holy Spirit works to douse. Because the corrupt carnal nature of man sees itself as the master of the universe, human beings love to exercise their freewill over everything, including the forces of nature and even God’s divine power. This has led some people to erroneously see the power of the human freewill as being superior to God’s divine authority. However, children of God do not walk in this folly. As children of God, we recognize that the exercise of freewill outside the will of God is false freedom which leads to slavery and captivity to worldly pleasures, addictions, pride, inordinate ambition, immortality, and the like. These are the very same things that Jesus sacrificed so much to deliver us from. Therefore, we submit our freewill to God in the process of discovering and following God’s purpose for our lives. Any exercise of freedom that gives a person the liberty to live recklessly without due consideration for divine purpose and life after death is actually the freedom of fools. God’s will for His children is always good and in their best interest (Jeremiah 29:11). It is the essence of life and the only way by which we can fulfill our destiny. You can continually know God’s will for your life by discerning it in the place of prayer (Ephesians 5:17, Colossians 1:9). Your Heavenly Father expects you to ensure that His will be done in your life, family, church and community (Matthew 6:10). Are you doing this?
Prayer Point:
Father, I submit myself anew to the Lordship of Your Spirit. Please let Your will be done in my life in Jesus’ Name.
Wednesday Hymn 4: Trust And Obey
1. When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Chorus:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.
2. Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear,
Not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
3. Not a burden we bear,
Not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss,
Not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.
4. But we never can prove
The delights of His love
Until all on the alter we lay;
For the favor He shows,
For the joy He bestows,
Are from them who will trust and obey.
5. Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do,
Where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

‘Topic: The Impact Of Actions
Scripture: And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the LORD shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones. Joshua 7:25
Thought For The Day: It is the actions of today that deliver the impacts of tomorrow.
Sometime ago, an eighteen-year-old young lady who was in the Senior Secondary School (SS2) sent a message to our church line. She wrote, ‘Pastor, I feel so dirty and defiled, I want to kill myself’. My wife and I put a call through to her to know what happened. She said that when she was four years old, a mature person in her neighbourhood raped her. After that demonic action, she would come under an uncontrollable urge to commit immorality with whosoever and whatsoever she saw. As a result of that, she had slept with numerous men that she had lost count of. She had become a shadow of herself, there was nothing like education nor a definite future in her mind or focus, all because of a wicked, self-centered, satan-sponsored, destiny-destroying man who decided to pick up a four-year old baby and initiate her into an immoral covenant that has ruined her life and destroyed her destiny. It was such a pathetic case. What a level of wickedness!
Beloved, whatever you sow, you will reap (Galatians 6:7); living is seeding; life has consequences. It is the actions of today that deliver the impacts of tomorrow. Refuse to be allowed to be used by the devil.
On the other hand, if you have been a victim of the negative actions of others, God can restore and repair your life. My counsel is, draw closer to God and allow Him to mend your life for His Purpose.
Remember This: It is the actions of today that deliver the impacts of tomorrow.
Assignments:
1. Be conscious of the decisions you make and the actions you take per time; read the account of Achan in Joshua 7:1-25 for a broader understanding of our anchor Scripture.
2. Make up your mind not to sow a negative seed in the life of anyone.
Prayer: Lord, I refuse to be a victim of the activity of any agent of wickedness. Grant me the grace to always act correctly and make positive impact in the life of everyone that comes my way Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC:Let There Be No Discord
TEXT: GENESIS 23:1-16
KEY VERSE: “And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver, which he had named in the audience of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money with the merchant”
(Genesis 23:16).
MESSAGE: Abraham needed to bury his wife, Sarah who had died, and he, being a stranger had to approach the land owners – the Hittites for a burial ground. Their positive and reverential response to Abraham’s request is an indication of the harmonious relationship that existed between them. They offered to give him a place freely but Abraham opted instead to pay the price that was named.
Here is a lesson for the church and believers. It is always important to secure all legal documents relating to any purchased property. When God instructed Jeremiah to buy a piece of land in Anathoth from his uncle’s son, at a time when the fall of Jerusalem was imminent, as a sign of God’s faithfulness to still bring His people back from the Babylonian captivity, all due legal processes were observed – the payment for the land, the signing of the deed and the presence of witnesses, “according to the law and custom” (Jeremiah 32:6-14).
The church can do no less today. Instances of persons who purportedly gave some properties to the church only to come back and demand them again can be avoided if all legal documents and handover notes were obtained. Even among the brethren, in our day-to-day business relationships with one another, it is always necessary to have a properly defined, documented and mutually understandable working agreement. Failure in this area in the past had given Satan opportunity to cause discord amongst brethren.
In all, God demands that all things be done decently and in order. It is wrong, if not foolish, to take things for granted and assume that our faith will grant the immunity if we overlook matters of documentation, probity and accountability. Let us be more serious, better focused thorough in all we do.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: We gain the more when we make thoroughness and diligence the pivot of our transactions.

Topic: Live Free From Fear
Scripture: He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.(Psalm 91:1-3)
Message: Is it possible to live free from fear in this dangerous and unpredictable world? Yes, it most definitely is! Because protection is a solid promise of God.
But it’s not a promise that’s offered to just anyone. It is promised to those who abide in the Lord. To abide means “to dwell, to remain and to continue.” To abide in the shadow of the Almighty is to live in continual union with Him, keeping His Word and obeying His voice. Those who abide in the Lord can live without dread of what the devil will do.
Let me make this clear though—God’s promise of protection doesn’t guarantee that the devil will leave you alone! It means that God will give you a way of escape every time the devil rears his ugly face at you.
If you are afraid of the dangers around you, spend more time in the Word and in prayer until your trust in God overcomes your fear. Draw closer to the Lord until you are abiding in the shadow of the Almighty and—no matter how dangerous this world becomes—He shall surely deliver you.

Topic: Test the Gifts of Spirit
Scripture: Luke 22:13 “And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.”
Message: When a true gift of the Spirit is in operation, things will always be as the Lord has said (an exception to this is if there are conditions to meet).
This is the ultimate test of whether or not someone’s words are God-inspired (Dt. 18:22).
We cannot be led by just our own feelings concerning the gifts of the Spirit.
In 1 Corinthians chapter 12, the apostle Paul gives us direction governing the use of spiritual gifts that must supersede any urge or leading that we feel.
The first test to apply to any gift of the Spirit is to ask, “Does it glorify Jesus?” That’s the point Paul is making. The Holy Spirit will never lead anyone to defame Jesus in any way. Jesus made it very clear that the Holy Spirit would only glorify Him. Any utterance or act that denies Jesus is not from the Holy Spirit.
In Paul’s day, there was a transition being made from Judaism to Christianity. Some Jews were teaching that keeping the Old Testament law could produce salvation. They violently opposed Paul’s teaching, that faith alone in Jesus could produce salvation. Paul considered any utterance like this as calling Jesus accursed and it definitely would not be from the Holy Spirit.
Also, the pagan religions of Paul’s day believed in many gods. Anyone who tried to make Jesus just another god or “a” way to God instead of “the” way to God would be calling Him accursed. The Holy Spirit would never inspire anyone to do this. Those who are truly moved by the Holy Spirit in their utterances will always glorify Jesus.

Topic: Satisfied by Righteousness
But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. — Philippians 4:19
Man hungers for food, and God sends the sun and rain upon the golden fields of grain. The grain is made into flour, and flour into bread, and man’s physical hunger is satisfied. Man hungers for love; and God ignites the fire of affection in another heart, and two hearts are made complete in the bonds of holy matrimony.
Man hungers for knowledge, and God raises up institutions of learning, calls men to be instructors, puts it into the hearts of the rich to endow them; and men are satisfied in their thirst for knowledge. Man hungers for fellowship; and God allows him to build cities where men can share their industry, and their knowledge, and their skills.
Don’t tell me that God can supply man with an abundance of everything material and yet will let him starve spiritually! . . . God will satisfy the hunger and thirst of those who desire His righteousness because He loves the world with an undying affection.
Prayer for the day: You have abundantly supplied my greatest need, heavenly Father, for You have given me love.
