Topic: Integrity Is The Word
Text: 1 Samuel 12:1-5 (KJV)
Key Verse: “And they said, Thou hast not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither hast thou taken ought of any man’s hand” (1 Samuel 12:4).
MESSAGE:
When Satan came before the Lord with the sons of God, he was asked if he had considered Job’s life of integrity as someone “who feared God and eschewed evil”. Satan expectedly tried to hinge Job’s righteousness on God’s blessings and preservation (Job 1:8-11).
The text today deals with Samuel’s valedictory address to Israel. He had presented himself for public scrutiny and had challenged them to testify against him in any area he might have erred as a leader. Their verdict was unanimous – he had lived a blameless life. And God was a Witness to that.
The life of Samuel presents a worthy model and challenge to all ministers as well as born again Christians. Today, many hide under the mask that “nobody can be perfect” and so, they continue the downward journey of sin and degradation. But man was created in the image of God, to live a holy life like his Maker.
Salvation from sin is the beginning of a true and living relationship with God. For a real child of God, living a holy life is not optional. It is the requirement to get to heaven. It is what pleases God. “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8). Zechariah and his wife, Elizabeth, “…were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless” (Luke 1:6). Paul and his associates lived “holily, justly and unblameably” before the brethren (1 Thessalonians 2:10). Same for Daniel (Daniel 6:4). So, anyone accepting his shortcomings instead of praying to God to get rid of them will only have himself to blame eventually and eternally. God’s unchanging standard remains – “Be ye holy for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:16).
Thought For The Day: No holiness, no heaven.

TOPIC: THE VOICE AND UTTERANCE OF MOTIVE
Scripture: But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7
Thought For The Day: The utterance of your motive is louder than the utterance of your actions.
Motive connotes the expressed or unexpressed reason for an action; it is the driving force of a man’s actions. The truth is, there is no human being on earth that acts without a definite motive.
It is amazing to know that motives have voices; motive speaks, and the utterance of your motive is louder than the utterance of your actions. The voice of your motive speaks louder than the voice of your actions. It is true that actions speak louder than words but motives speak louder than actions. This is why our anchor Scripture confirms that beyond our actions, God sees and knows the intent of our hearts. Behind our actions, God goes deeper to know the motive behind the things we do – why we do what we do, why we go to church, why we join a particular department in church, why we give offering, why we make money, the motive behind our quest for popularity, etc. For example, most people make donations in church, and in the sight of men, they appear very okay but in the sight of God, their donations are abominations because their motives are wrong.
In 2 Chronicles 25:1-2, the Bible says, Amaziah was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem…And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a perfect heart.
Beloved, what is your driving force in life? Are you driven by the consensus or you are driven by your convictions? Is it the craving to be like others or the desire and passion to please God? My counsel is, ensure you have a correct, genuine and sincere motive behind every action for God sees beyond your actions; He sees your heart.
Remember This: The utterance of your motive is louder than the utterance of your actions.
Assignments:
1. Ask God to purge you of every wrong motive behind the actions of your life.
2. Endeavour to understand God’s motive behind His actions from His Word.
Prayer: Lord, I ask for forgiveness for every wrong motive I have ever had in doing anything both before You and before men. I receive the grace to cultivate and maintain the right motive in everything I do, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: TWINKLE
Read: Philippians 2:14–16, Bible in a Year: Isaiah 26–27; Philippians 2
Shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. Philippians 2:15–16
“Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” is an English lullaby. Its lyrics, originally a poem by Jane Taylor, capture the wonder of God’s universe where stars hang “up above the world so high.” In the rarely published later stanzas, the star acts as a guide: “As your bright and tiny spark lights the traveler in the dark.”
In Philippians, Paul challenges believers in Philippi to be blameless and pure as they “shine . . . like stars in the sky” while offering the good news of the gospel to all around them (2:15–16). We wonder how we can shine like stars. We often feel inadequate and struggle to think our “light” is bright enough to make a difference. But stars don’t try to be stars. They just are. Light changes our world. And it changes us. God brought physical light into our world (Genesis 1:3); and through Jesus, God brings spiritual light into our lives (John 1:1–4).
We who have God’s light in us are to shine in such a way that those around us see light and are drawn to its source. As effortlessly as a star hanging in the night sky, our light makes a difference because of what it is: Light! When we simply shine, we follow Paul’s directive to “hold firmly to the word of life” in a world in deep darkness, and we draw others to the source of our hope: Jesus.
Prayer: Dear God, may Your light shine out of the very cracks of our beings as we hold out the Word of life to others.
Jesus brings light into our life.

Topic: Revolutionary Love
Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances and it endures everything [without weakening]. Love never fails–[never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. – 1 Corinthians 13:7-8, The Amplified Bible
Love never fails. Nothing works without it, and there can be no failure with it. When you live by love, you cannot fail.
It takes faith to believe that love’s way will not fail. The natural mind cannot understand that because the natural man and his world are ruled by selfishness.
But when you practice love by faith and refuse to seek your own, you put the Father into action on your behalf. As long as you stay in love, God the Father seeks your own. He sees to it that you succeed. Walking in love is to your great advantage!
Agape love is a new kind of power. It makes you master of every situation. No weapon that is formed against you will prosper. No one even has the power to hurt your feelings because you are not ruled by feelings but by God’s love. You are loving as He loves.
This love is revolutionary. If we fully understood the great return from living God’s love, we’d probably be competing with each other, each of us trying to love the other more. And without a doubt, everyone would emerge from that competition a winner! For love is truly the only sure secret to our success.
