ANDREW WOMMACK DEVOTIONAL 28 OCTOBER 2018

TOPIC: BE A WITNESS, NOT A JUDGE

John 16:8 “And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:“

Text: John 16:8

It is the ministry of the Holy Spirit to reprove sin, righteousness, and judgment. It is not our ministry. We are simply witnesses. A witness is not the judge or the jury. A witness simply relates what he has experienced, thereby providing evidence to the truth of something. We are to witness in word and deed, to the truth of Jesus being alive in us and let God be the one who convicts. We are simply to testify to what we have seen or to what has happened to us.

Some people in their zeal, have gone beyond the witness stage and have tried to bring people under conviction themselves. This is assuming the job that belongs to the Holy Spirit alone. This not only frustrates the witness but it drives many people away from God. We make a very poor Holy Spirit; therefore, we should stick to our job of being a witness and let the Holy Spirit do His job.

Jesus specified an orderly progression in the way we should witness. First we start in Jerusalem (i.e. where we are). Then we go to those nearby (Judaea).

Finally, we take the gospel to every religious and racial group (Samaria) throughout the whole world.

There are some very practical reasons for becoming witnesses in this way.

Jesus testified that a prophet is honored everywhere except in his home town among his family and friends. Typically, at home is the hardest place to witness. Starting with those who know us best will cause us to humble ourselves and give God all the glory. Also, if rejection comes, this tempers us and our witness, so that we will be more effective and more resilient when we go to the outer most parts of the earth.

Single and Virtuous – a must read for ladies

Single and Virtuous – a must read for ladies

Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth [price, value] is far above rubies (Prov. 31:10)
A ruby is a precious stone or a high energy stone which is a type of sapphire and the leader of gems; but the worth of a woman of virtue is FAR ABOVE RUBIES!

Young women are today faced with the challenge of being virtuous. I mean look at the pressure that is surrounding the woman of today; crazy fashion, distorted definition of true beauty, peer pressure, broken hearts etc. Before I go any further, we may need to first define what virtue is. According to the Concise Oxford English Dictionary, Virtue is behavior showing higher moral standards.

Precious stone cannot be found anywhere anyhow; you will have to search for it! Any young woman that wants to be a woman of virtue must be set aside, different from any common woman that can be found on the street! She must value herself like a precious stone with high moral standards and spirituality! You have a price tag that is far above rubies or any other precious stone! Just as it is not easy to find a precious tone, young men knows it’s not easy to find a virtuous woman.

Now let’s also take a look at a ‘virtuous wife’. She must have started from somewhere, I mean she didn’t just wake up and say “oh dear! Am married now, I should now be virtuous”. I looked at a portion of scripture when Isaac needed a wife, Rebecca was not found wanting because she was already a woman of virtue whilst still at her parents’ home, whilst still single! Read about what she did (Genesis 24vs 16-20).

You cannot pretend to be a virtuous woman for too long if you are not, it’s a matter of time, it will show and you will be found out! Take for instance; what is happening in most homes, a woman gets married, few weeks down the line her husband is complaining about her behavior! Saying “but she was taught just before marriage!” Hey it’s not just a matter of sitting someone down a month before marriage and teach her how to be virtuous, it is a long process that starts from somewhere long before. The book of Wisdom (Proverbs) says: “train up a child in the way he should go so that when he is grown he will not depart from it” This thing called ‘Virtue’ has to be instilled in children so that as they grow they don’t find themselves wanting in areas such as building value friendships, living in harmony with others, discipline, honest and the like.

Show me a woman who tore down her own home and I will show you a woman who did not learn to be virtuous in her singleness. I mean come on! You think you can be a proverbs 31 woman when you can’t even cook or hardworking? I don’t mean to sound harsh but bring out the hard reality of things! Are you far above rubies or you are just a roadside stone that can be kicked and tossed to and fro by anyone? The question is yours to answer, is your price far above rubies?

See below how the bible described a virtuous woman in proverbs 31:10-31(KJV)

DCLM Daily Manna 27 October 2018 – Endure Persecutions and Trials

Topic: Endure Persecutions and Trials

Text: 1 Peter 4:12-19 (KJV)

Key Verse: “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you“ (1 Peter 4:12).

MESSAGE:

Christians are counselled on how to comport themselves whenever they are tried for their precious faith. Believers’ relationship with Christ will definitely make them to suffer the hatred, opposition, reproaches and sufferings of Christ, just as they will partake in His glory, if they endure to the end.

The text for today encourages believers to be glad and joyful whenever they suffer for Christ’s sake, as this brings a clear assurance that they are the children of God. Persecutions should therefore be borne by Christians with patience, fortitude and full dependence on the promises of God and support of the Holy Spirit. That a Christian is facing persecution does not mean he or she has committed a sin.

Believers are therefore forewarned not to allow their persecution to be on account of their sins or violation of constitutional laws. If so-called believers fail to make heaven because of their inability to endure sufferings brought upon them by their persecuting neighbours, how much more will it be for the enemies of God, the sinners in hell forever. If sufferings brought upon believers by the persecutors as trials and tribulations are not easy to be borne, how awful will the day of judgment be for the sinners who outrightly reject God’s plan for their salvation?

In other words, if the way of the righteous is so hard, how terrible then will be the end of the ungodly and unrepentant sinners, who operate in sin with joy and think the believers are fools for patiently bearing their pains and for sometimes facing reproachful and shameful death without a just cause. This is the needful caution for sinners to repent of their sins before it is too late.

Thought For The Day: Christians’ persecutions are light pains that bring large gains.

Topic: Stand Strong Against the Adversary

To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. — Colossians 1:27

It is true that whenever you do anything for God, the adversary will oppose you. But you must remember that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (see 1 John 4:4).

You should not have to spend your life struggling against Satan in order to serve God. Instead of wearing yourself out trying to fight spiritual enemies, you should learn to stand strong in the authority given to you by Jesus.

The best way to overcome Satan and his demons is simply to stay in God’s will by obeying His Word and God will work things out according to His divine plan and purpose.

Prayer Starter: Thank You, Lord, that You’re greater than the enemy. As I trust You and obey Your Word, I know that You will fight my battles. Help me to stand strong during difficult times, knowing You are always with me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
