Topic: Divine Artistry [Billy Graham Devotional 15 November 2018]
Yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities. — 2 Corinthians 12:5
Dr. Edward Judson, in speaking of the life of his father, Adoniram Judson, at the dedication of the Judson Memorial Church in New York City, said, “Suffering and success go together. If you are succeeding without suffering, it is because others before you have suffered; if you are suffering without succeeding, it is that others after you may succeed.”
Happy are they that mourn. They can be happy because they know that their pain, their distress, and their privation are the travail of a new creation, the birth pangs of a better world. They can be happy if they are aware that the Master Artist, God, is employing both light and shadow to produce a masterpiece worthy of divine artistry.
They can also glory in their infirmities, smile through their tears, and sing in the midst of their sorrow, because they realize that in God’s economy, “If we suffer, we shall also reign with Him.”
Prayer for the day: In suffering I will learn to praise You, loving Savior.
Written by Billy Graham, Founder of Billy Graham Evangelistic Association(BGEA). BGEA exists to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ by every effective means and to equip the church and others to do the same.

…..Before I knew what was happening, we started kissing and fondling each other. Something in me kept telling me what I was doing was wrong, … what happened next? find out …
He Took Off My Underwear!
“Rose, be a good girl and ensure you are closer to God, don’t join bad girls, face your studies and do your best to come out with a very good grade” those were the words my dad told me when I was leaving for the university in another city.
Life on campus was exciting, interesting and challenging at the same time. It wasn’t long before I joined a Christian group due to my upbringing. I wasn’t too committed in the fellowship as I struggled to strike a balance between my social, spiritual life and academics.
I was not used to going to night parties because of my parents’ strict upbringing, although I had always wanted to be like other girls who sneaked out of the house to attend night parties on the pretence that they were going to study/sleep at a friends’ place when I was in high school.
One day Alicia my roommate, a computer science student in her 2nd year invited me for a night party, at first I told her I could not go because I was afraid of what could happen there, that wasn’t the first time she was inviting me anyway and I had always turned her invitation down, but this time around I really did not have an excuse because it was just the first week of resumption of the second semester and no serious work had started. As I was still contemplating whether to go or not, her boyfriend Stanley came in with a friend named Steve.
Stanley greeted us and introduced Steve to me as his friend, Steve was a fourth year Psychology student, handsome, tall, with a very catchy voice and carriage, he looked like any girl’s fantasy or dream guy. He convinced me to accompany them to the party, assuring me that nothing will happen to me.
At the party I met other friends from my department, Steve and I were dancing and soon we got talking, he told me more about himself, his visions and goals in life, we talked at length and true to his word he didn’t do anything strange to me.
Soon after the party, Steve and I started dating, he started visiting me in my room, we would talk, hold hands or go to the eatery outside the campus together. At this point, I had stopped attending the Christian group meetings, I gave lots of excuse to those group members that came visiting, I was enjoying life and celebrating my freedom from my parents.

One Saturday, as I was coming back from shopping, I decided to branch to see Steve in his house, this was the first time I was visiting him alone after he proposed marriage to me some weeks back. He was so excited to see me in his room alone, I told him I just felt like seeing him and to give him something special I had bought for him.
We both sat on his bed as we talked; he started narrating all over again how he fell in love with me at first sight and so on… soon we ran out of discussion topics. He stopped and gazed at me with a very suggestive and seductive look, I managed to open a new topic for discussion, but he kept looking at me in the eyes, I felt a chemistry going on in my body, but I remembered how my mum had warned me against pre-marital sex … I decided to stand up, but he stood up too and held my hands and told me in a subtle voice “Rose I love you”. Those words echoed in my mind as if I had never heard someone speak such words to me in the past eighteen years of my life.
Before I knew what was happening, we started kissing and fondling each other. Something in me kept telling me what I was doing was wrong, but my emotions had overruled my right thinking; he gradually removed my dress while I was lying on the bed. I was still thinking well I will stop him from having sexual intercourse with me, but before I knew it, he took off my underwear, the rest is history….we had sex! I felt so ashamed of myself. A sense of guilt overwhelmed me, I just sat on the bed with my head buried between my hands! I had lost my virginity! I had lost my pride, I had lost my virtue, I felt really bad.
I made up my mind I would not allow it to happen again but the more I tried the more I fell into it, I couldn’t stop seeing Steve.
One day, as I was about entering Steve’s room, I heard people laughing out loud in his room; I overheard Steve telling one of them, “that babe is cheap”! He started narrating our sexual encounters and everybody started laughing. I turned back feeling so ashamed of myself.
The following day I saw Steve on campus in the company of another lady, my friend told me that was the new girl Steve was going out with. I confronted him and he didn’t deny it.
I got back to my room feeling the world was fast crashing on my head. I wept bitterly, I remembered how he took off my underwear the very first time I encountered him, I felt so naked and felt used. I remembered the warnings of my dad and mum, I remembered the warnings of my pastor … I felt really bad and wept sore. I asked God for mercy and forgiveness.
Months later, I felt so sick and was diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection. I was lucky it wasn’t HIV, but I went through hell before I was eventually cured of it. I missed some exams and subsequently had to spend an extra semester in the university.

Friends, stories like this exist everywhere, you remember the very day you or that guy took off your underwear to have sex! Something in you tells you what you were about to do is wrong, but you refused to listen, telling yourself one day you will stop and till date you have not stopped the sex game.
Hear what the bible says in 1 Cor 6: 16-20 “flee fornication, every sin that a man doeth is without the body but he that commits fornication sins against his own body, what! Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which ye have of God and ye are not of your own. For you are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit which are God’s”
Anytime you engage in premarital sex, you get devalued because you lose virtues. You are not better off than a used item, like a half eaten apple. Why allow yourself to be used? Don’t allow any man taste or test you before he takes you to the altar of marriage, you are not a used car that needs to be test driven! The rule is “no sex before marriage and no sex outside marriage”
If a guy can’t wait for you, he doesn’t deserve you because true love waits. The fact that you are in a relationship or in courtship with a guy is not a license for him to sleep with you.
Your virginity is your pride, don’t lose it on the altar of sexual pleasure, or trying to use what you have to get what you don’t have, don’t allow your lecturers sleep with you because of marks, why will you allow your boss in the office, or your uncle or neighbor or friend take advantage of you? Why will you sleep with a man because of money or for whatever reason!
Song of Solomon 8:8-10 says “we have a little sister, and she hath no breast: what shall we do for our sister in the day when she shall be spoken for? If she be a wall, we will build upon her palace of silver: as if she be a door; we will enclose her with boards of cedar”
In NLT version “we have a little sister too young, for breast. What will we do if someone assess her to marry her? If she is Chaste, we will strengthen and encourage her, but if she is promiscuous we will shut her off from men”
From the two translations, you will see that to be chaste is likened to a wall and to be promiscuous is likened to a door! …. A wall is a protection and is always standing, but a door opens and closes from time to time, so the question is “are you a wall or a door?”
Each time you go into sexual immorality, God is disappointed, in fact not just God; you also become a disappointment to yourself, your parent, your future spouse, your spouse parents, heaven, and your generation.
Hmnnn, Did I hear you say “I’ve not had sex before, I’m a virgin, but I masturbate!” You fiddle with your private parts, or you do it with other girls (lesbianism) and you think nothing is wrong? Know that all forms of sexual immoralities are sin against God, whether in actions or in your thoughts.
Romans 1:26-28: (26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient)

Topic: It is a New Dawn!
Memorise: “We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:”– 2 Peter 1:19
Read: Exodus 12:1-11 (KJV)
1 And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,
2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
4 And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.
5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
8 And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
9 Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.
10 And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.
11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD’S passover.
Bible in One Year: Ezekiel 3-4, Luke 21:29-22:13
MESSAGE:
The children of Israel experienced a new dawn when they left Egypt in circumstances that only God could have made possible. If the Lord could give a new dawn to a nation of slaves, I know that you will also experience a new dawn this season in Jesus’ Name. The Lord told Moses and Aaron that the month of their exodus from Egypt would be the beginning of months to them. In other words, it would become the first month of a new year to them. To someone using this devotional, regardless of the fact that we are in November, this shall be the beginning of months to you because you are entering into your new year this month. You cannot afford to wait till the last day of this year to receive that miracle you desire so much, because the Lord is able and willing to do it now. He has done it before and He will still do it again. We experienced this dimension of the Lord’s move in Nigeria a couple of years ago. The country was severely under the siege of a totalitarian ruler, and the children of God were seriously praying for the country’s deliverance. During one of our monthly Holy Ghost Service meetings, the Lord suddenly spoke to me that I should instruct the congregation to greet each other “Happy New Year”! Amazingly, this was the middle of the year. As usual, I obeyed my Commander-in-Chief; the brethren greeted each other “Happy New Year”, and we closed the meeting. Barely 48 hours afterwards, the siege over the nation was lifted. Announce to yourself or those around you that it is a new dawn, and so shall it be in Jesus’ Name.
After declaring a new dawn for the Israelites, God dealt with the enemies that held them bound, so much so that their king called for Moses and Aaron in the middle of the night, begging them to lead the Israelites out of the land. These were the same people he had held in captivity for years (Exodus 12:31-33). Beloved, Psalm 126:1 says:
“When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.”
When the Lord brings you to a new dawn, even your neighbours may not easily recognise you, because your level would have changed drastically. Can you believe that Pharaoh even asked Moses to pray for him! I decree into your life this day, by the time the Lord accomplishes what He intends to do for you, your enemies will come begging for intercessory prayers in Jesus’ Name. Beloved, I announce to you today, it is a new dawn. All that is required of you is to keep to the precepts of God’s word, and don’t ever let it cross your mind to go back to the Egypt of sin again.
Prayer Point:
Father, I receive my new dawn of joy, victory, breakthrough and perfect walk with You in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: Breaking Satanic Wall of Resistance
FIRE SCRIPTURE: Zechariah 3:1-4
MEMORY VERSE: “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forevermore.” – Hebrews 13:8
The MESSAGE:
To resist means to oppose. It is to prevent something from happening. In physics, we were taught that resistance is inversely proportional to the flow of current in a conductor. That is, the higher the resistance, the lower the amount of current that flows, decreasing the movement of the current as it progresses. Resistance causes a back and forth movement, one-step forward and many steps backward. It also causes stagnancy and when resistance is in place, there would be non-achievement. The devil is an expert in using demonic resistance to retard a Christian’s movement in life. The devil also uses it as a wall against Christians to prevent them from moving forward. Negative spiritual resistance does not allow results of prayers to manifest, and therefore, it means “No To God’s Yes”. It eventually causes failure at the altar of prayers. This leads to discouragement, frustration, emptiness, unprofitable delay, and tarrying at satanic bus stop.
A place of resistance is a place of great opposition and can divert a person to other areas, which are useless to the person’s destiny. In the Fire Scripture, Joshua was resisted despite being the high Priest, because he was clothed in filthy garments. The wall of resistance could not be broken until the garment was removed. There are several methods the devil uses to resist our blessings from getting to us. These include blocking our ways to victorious battles, healing, deliverance, prosperity, marital blessing, academic success, profitable job or contract, child bearing, promotion etc. Have you been struggling to move forward in any area of your life? Are you finding it difficult to succeed in your career and business? If yes, there might be a wall of resistance hindering you.
The wall of resistance against Daniel receiving answers to his prayer was also broken. God is set to break every wall of resistance against you today, but at this point, you need to honestly identify what your own filthy garment is, because the wall of resistance cannot be built without a filthy garment. Do you always see yourself in the dream being blocked? Do you always see yourself marching or walking on faeces and dirty roads? Today, the Lord is calling you to rise up in boldness of the victory that Christ has obtained for you. You must check your life and destroy any hold that satan may have on you. Make peace with God and begin to break down every satanic wall.
MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
EVERY MAN IS ENTITLED TO AN ENEMY; THE ENEMY REVEALS YOUR WEAKNESS AND PREPARES YOU FOR BREAKTHROUGH.
PROPHETIC WORD:
By the authority in the name of Jesus, your walls of Jericho are scattered.
PRAYER POINTS:
MORNING
1. Filthy garments of my father’s house that has given the devil a legal ground to stop me, catch fire, in Jesus’ name.
2. Every ancestral power resisting me from achieving greatness in life, die, in Jesus’ name.
3. Every stubborn demon assigned to resist me from moving forward, die, in Jesus’ name.
EVENING
4. Powers behind satanic checkpoint, assigned to make sure I am stopped from moving forward, die, in Jesus’ name.
5. Every satanic checkpoint erected on my ladder to the top, scatter by fire, in Jesus’ name.
6. Resistance to the greatest desire of my life, your end has come, break, in Jesus’ name.
7. Sing this song: “My life is marching on, my life is marching on; the gate of hell shall not prevail, my life is marching on”.

Topic: Bound to Encourage
Read: Hebrews 10:19–25, Bible in a Year: Lamentations 3–5; Hebrews 10:19–39
Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Hebrews 10:24
The Steven Thompson Memorial Centipede is a cross-country meet unlike any other. Each seven-member team runs as a unit, holding a rope for the first two miles of a three-mile course. At the two-mile mark, the team drops the rope and finishes the race individually. Each person’s time is, therefore, a combination of the pace the team kept and his or her own speed.
This year, my daughter’s team opted for a strategy I had not previously seen: They put the fastest runner at the front and the slowest right behind her. She explained that their goal was for the strongest runner to be near enough to speak words of encouragement to the slowest runner.
Their plans depicted for me a passage from the book of Hebrews. The writer urges us to “hold unswervingly to the hope we profess” (Hebrews 10:23) as we “spur one another on toward love and good deeds” (v. 24). There are certainly many ways of accomplishing this, but the author highlighted one: “not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another” (v. 25). Gathering together with other believers as we’re able is a vital aspect of the life of faith.
The race of life can feel like more than we can handle at times, and we may be tempted to drop the rope in hopelessness. As we run together, let’s offer one another the encouragement to run strong!
Prayer: Jesus, thank You for the hope You offer. Thank You for never discouraging us. Help us imitate You by encouraging each other today.
Encouragement is water to the soul.
INSIGHT:
By the blood of Jesus our high priest (Hebrews 10:19–22) we can enter the Most Holy Place, that is, we can come directly into God’s presence. However, the author is using these two ideas—Jesus’s sacrifice and our access to God—in tandem. The point in this passage is not because Jesus sacrificed for us we can enter God’s presence, but rather because we have a path to God, we are now to act. We are to draw near to Him (v. 22), hold to our hope (v. 23), encourage each other (v. 24), and meet together (v. 25).
A significant aspect of this passage is the author’s repeated use of the first-person plural. Seven times the author uses this construction and three times it’s in the exhortation “let us” (vv. 22, 23, 24). The implication is that our salvation has a community impact. Together we are part of the body of Christ (see 1 Corinthians 12). The Christian life is to be lived in relationship with others, encouraging each other to be more like Christ.
